BENTHIC TAXONOMY/ABUNDANCE

CEL provides extensive marine taxonomy services. Since CEL first started in 1998 we have made a reference collection of unique taxa for every offshore project. This includes specimens from Caspian Sea waters. This unique collection, combined with a richness of appropriate literature, enables our specialists to make rapid and accurate identifications. CEL’s biologists, utilizing optical microscopes, are capable of sorting, identifying and enumerating microscopic organisms including phytoplankton, zooplankton and benthic invertebrates (Caspian species) as well as calculating of biomass. Our facilities allow us to process and store large numbers of samples from multiple surveys at any one time.
